What better way to engage
your students in history than to let them experience it for
themselves?
At Bullace Hill a complete 16th century farm
has been rebuilt on a 8 acre site near Chepstow, overlooking the
Bristol Channel. The farm contains: gardens, barns, hay meadows,
woodlands and orchards. But apart from that we keep accurate 16th
century livestock including horses, pigs and of course
sheep.
Once a year the site comes to life and is filled
with people you would have run into when visiting a farm in the
16th century. Women spinning, a shepherdess looking after sheep
and small children. A charcoal burner, men working in the hay
meadows, dairymaids. You might even meet the master of the
house...
A tour of the site is something your students will
long remember. Given proper preparation at school the visit will
be a very valuable part of the regular curriculum.
In 2012
the living history will take place from Monday 2nd
July until Friday 6th July
